What We Need You To Break

Hey Fremont is in closed testing. Everything below is built and switched on — what we do not know is which parts are confusing, slow, ugly or simply wrong. That is what you are here for.

Before you start Hey Fremont is free, and always will be — every feature is unlocked for every member. Later on there will be optional perks for people who want to support the site, but nothing that is free today will go behind a paywall. Use a real email you can check, because sign-up sends a confirmation link. Feel free to put nonsense in your profile; this data gets cleared before launch. Found something broken? Tell us on the feedback page — it is in the menu once you are signed in.

Signing up & your profile

Profile

Sign up, confirm your email, and get back in. Did anything leave you stuck or guessing?
Fill in a bio, interests, and whether you live here or are visiting (with trip dates and hotel).
Upload a profile picture, then add photos to your gallery. Try a big photo straight off your phone.
Set I am to Local or Visitor. If you pick Visitor, add how often you visit and an upcoming trip.
Start typing a city in Where you are. Does your actual town come up? Try a deliberate typo.
Change the privacy dropdown next to individual fields, then view your own profile as others see it.

Finding people

Members · Groups

Search members by name, then narrow with the filters. Do the results match what you asked for?
Sort by distance. Does the ordering look right from where you actually are?
Open somebody's profile. Is anything showing that should be private?
Send a friend request and a message. Try blocking somebody and check they really disappear.
Browse groups, search them, and join one.

Downtown Faves

Browse the cloud — bigger words are loved by more members. Open one.
Read the top description, then write your own and vote on others. Best one wins the top slot.
Rate a fave for price, vibe, crowd and whether first-timers should go.
Add a downtown spot or tradition that is missing. You earn points for it, and more for describing it.
Tag one of your photos to a fave and check it does not become visible to anyone it should not be.

Meeting up

Meet Up

Create a meet up — something casual, soon, for whoever is around.
Create an event — a bar crawl, trivia night or meetup with a date and a place.
Open somebody else's and RSVP. Is it clear who can see the address?
Check that a past activity drops out of the list.

Posting & the weekly contest

Home · Trending · Contest

Post to the feed, with and without a photo. React and comment on somebody else's.
Look at Trending and switch between Images and Videos and the time ranges.
Read this week's contest phrase and submit an entry.
Check entries stay hidden while submissions are open, and that voting opens the week after.

Safety & privacy — the important one

Everywhere

Turn on SFW mode and confirm every image on the site blurs.
Report a post, a photo and a profile. Did you get told what happened to it?
Block someone and confirm it works both ways, everywhere.
Try to reach a profile or photo while signed out. You should not be able to. Tell us immediately if you can.
Set a photo to Private and check nobody else can find it.

Already known — no need to report

Demo accounts and their posts are seeded, not real people.
Downtown Faves starts empty — add the first ones.
Video upload is not built yet.
